If you’ve missed the latest Sayre Briele Photography update, 2026 didn’t start off with a “bang” like most businesses do. It started off with a much-needed pause. As business owners, it’s easy to highlight only our best moments. our favorite photos, exciting announcements, and polished results. But 2025 reminded me that life is full of ups, downs, twists, and turns… not just the “bests.”

A Personal Health Journey That Shook Things Up
At the start of 2025, I had mapped out in full detail everything that I wanted to do and everything that I wanted to accomplish within my business. I’m talking session ideas, full set designs, follower count goals, you name it! But my body had a different plan. What started as a few sluggish days turned into lethargic weeks filled with fatigue. Paired with random bouts of nausea and overall body pains, I knew that a doctor’s visit was my next step! After initial labs came back, my primary care physician quickly referred me to a hematologist. Not only were my Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 levels low, but my Iron/Ferratin levels were way too low and I had been the effects of it for quite some time. I met with my hematologist, had more intensive labs ran, and results concluded that I have this fancy thing called Beta Thalassemia and an iron infusion was the best course of action. The appointment was sent and prayers were sent up! One iron infusion, months of supplement prescriptions, and doctors appointments later…I finally feel more like myself again!

What This Has to Do with Photography
Now you’re probably wondering “What does this have to do with the photography business?” Here’s what I’ve learned:
The culture we live in can often get so easily wrapped up in “hustling” or “grinding.” People often think or preach to us that working as hard as you possibly can 24/7 and burning the candle at both ends is how you “grind” to achieve your goals. If 2025 taught me anything, it’s taught me that I can’t pour from an empty cup. I can’t create quality, heartfelt images if I’m too tired to take the shots. I can’t serve families across the Lowcountry with my full attention if I’m not caring for myself first.
So, I hit pause. I took time to rest, refocus, and rethink how to best serve my clients while also caring for myself. And now I’m so excited to share what’s next!

What’s Changing in 2026
1. We’re going back to our roots!
When I first started this business, I didn’t the big luxury retail space with huge windows and lots of foot traffic. I was just a 23 year old girl with a passion and a plan: “If I don’t have a studio yet, why don’t I just bring the studio to them?” Over the years, I’ve been blessed to work out of a beautiful space (which I am immensely grateful for) but many clients still request and prefer for the full studio experience to be brought to their homes so I’m returning back to where it all began: IN-HOME PHTOGRAPHY SESSIONS! That means in-home newborn photography is officially back, and other session types are, too! Whether you’re in Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville or the surrounding Lowcountry, I’ll once again be traveling to bring a full-service studio experience directly to your home.

2. Maternity sessions are temporarily paused
This was a tough decision that I grappled with for months but but it’s one that feels right. From the beginning, I’ve dreamed of creating an empowering, luxurious experience for every expecting mama. Every mom deserves a session that makes her feel radiant, confident, and deeply celebrated. While I’m proud of the sessions I’ve done, I know the SBP Maternity Experience hasn’t quite reached the level I envision yet. So, I’m taking time to redesign it from the ground up! With new ideas, more thoughtful styling, and even more personalized care. Stay tuned, because when it returns, it’s going to be something truly special.

Moving Forward with Purpose
2026 may not have started fast, but it’s starting with deep intention.
I’m walking into this year with renewed energy, deeper gratitude, and a stronger foundation for both my clients and myself.
If this season of life has taught me anything, it’s that slowing down can make space for something even more meaningful. For you, for me, and for every family I have the honor of photographing.
