Time waits for no one but WHEW! Who knew a year could fly by so fast? This time last year, I met this beautiful little lady and she did oh-so-good during her newborn session!
Alayna barely made a peep during the whole session and when it was time for some awake shots she smiled and gave us some silly faces I love how their personalities shine through, even as newborns!
She’s officially ONE! Can you believe it?? It seems like just a few months ago she was a brand new baby! To see how much these tiny humans grow and change over the course of a year is always so amazing to me! Little miss Alayna’s parents told me that her birthday was going to be unicorn themes and asked if we could incorporate unicorns and her birthday colors into her cake smash as well! We had a discussion about set design and what the cake will look like and I got to work! Mama LOVED the simple, yet colorful set! We started off with some portraits of the birthday girl sitting in this rocking chair. For Alayna’s newborn session mom and grandma had a sentimental item that they wanted to include and her cake smash was no different! Her rocking chair used to be mama’s rocking chair when she was one! It’s little things like this that bring these moments full circle.
Alayna sat in her rocking chair so calm and content as she tried to figure out what in the world her dad was doing! She was only slightly amused by her dad’s peek-a-boo antics behind my back to snag a smile. We captured these curious and confused faces as well as some family photos before moving on to the REALLY fun part…THE CAKE!
As expected, Alayna dug into her cake without hesitation! She has no problem getting messy but there was one catch…the PINCH! Some babies dive in by the fist full but this little one pinched and pinched at her cake. Did she eat enough icing to last her a week? Yes! But she would only use those two little fingers to eat! It was the cutest thing!
