One of the many questions I get asked when receiving a newborn session inquiry is “How do your newborn sessions work?” The answer to this question is so packed with information that I thought I would take the time to answer it in depth!
“So…I could have a professional photoshoot in my home?”
Absolutely! As a photographer specializing in newborn portraiture, safety and comfort are always my top priority. From prop selection to posing, everything is done with safety at the forefront and executed based on what baby will allow. Over time, I have fine-tuned a workflow that allows me to capture beautiful studio-style images in any space provided.
Don’t Add Stress!
Hiring a mobile newborn photographer means that you get to be as comfortable as possible in YOUR OWN space. All of my newborn sessions are baby-led and can be lengthy. Booking an in-home newborn session gives you the freedom to kick back and relax in your comfy clothes while I work to capture your little one’s every feature! There’s no need to add on the stress of taking your new baby out of the house. You don’t have to add on the headache of remembering to pack everything baby may need, worrying about possible bad weather, convincing your little ones to put on their clothes, and…oh — getting yourself ready! I love that everything we need for your newborn session is with you and you can take your time getting photo-ready while I set up and start working.
Siblings and Dad
While waiting for their photo op, siblings(and papas) can get bored or antsy fairly quickly. Being in their own home allows them the opportunity to go off into their own space while they wait for their turn in front of the camera! They can hang out with dad in another room, play with their own toys, maybe grab their favorite snack, or even go on an adventure in their own backyard!
Styling Your Session
After you have booked your session, we will dive into discussion about what you want your session to look like. We will figure out what color palettes you love decide if their are any family heirlooms or meaningful items that you may want to include. Your session will be fully customized to fit your vision! I have a wide variety of outfits, backdrops, hats, wraps, and accessories to choose from. Some of my favorite things to incorporate are soft wools and knits, bamboo baskets, or wooden beds and bowls with a vintage feel. No matter what setups we use during your session, your baby will be the shining star of each image! You did all that hard work to get them here, right? Let’s be sure to show them off!
